Areas: Imperial City
|
|
At the end of the previous episode, Lagi ordered the Sestren system to transport himself and Orta to the ruins beneath the Cradle. Situated underground, these ruins were being excavated by the Empire. The enormous Imperial capital, with a population of over 100.000 people, is situated at the surface. The part of the capital where the Cradle and these underground ruins were situated is known as the "military research district". Entering at the very heart of the ancient facility, Lagi and Orta had to fight their way up to the surface.

| The first part of the episode shows an entire rail system that's used for transport of materials and probably workers to the different levels of the area. Lots of small houses are also situated there, probably serving as a home for the workers. A device known as the 'Artificial Sun' provides a natural light to illuminate the environment. Further upwards, the dragonmare embryos were being held. Different lamps were placed around them, presumably to keep them warm.
Closer to the surface, the Imperials were experimenting on a live Catharp who was chained to a huge construction. The Imperials seemed to have removed the poor creature's legs. Seeing how the Empire was trying to make machines that were capable of walking (see the end boss), it’s possible they were trying to experiment with the Catharp's legs. In the upper area, the Assault Carrier Vermana was being repaired after its previous battle.

| In the final run towards the surface, the area collapses around Orta and Lagi, an impressive view which goes nearly unnoticed because of the extreme speed at which the scenery flashes by. The exit leads to an enormous disc, surrounded by four pillars. The Cradle can be seen floating above it. The purpose of this disc is unknown, and the Empire didn't seem to have any use for it, except as an entrance and exit to the ruins. The final battle between Orta and the Imperial Defense Unit Bacharsuha gives us a view of the Imperial capital, which would soon be caught up in a battle between dragonmares, Wormriders and the Imperial ships. We don’t know how much damage this caused to the capital, but it must have been tremendous if we see what terrible forces were unleashed on the city.
