Where do all these dragonmares come from?

Abadd reactivated the Cradle to get the second batch of dragonmares operational. The Empire, overjoyed by the fact that the Cradle was active again, didn't bother to think what had activated the Cradle again. They even thought it was they who had reactivated the Cradle ("Now we have the power to make dragons! We no longer have any use for you Drones!"). However, Abadd released the dragonmares as soon as possible and caught the Empire by surprise.
