Mobo talks about the "Elder" in this Episode. Who are they, exactly?

During the battle with the Catharp, Mobo says "This isn't good. We must stop him before he destroys the place.". What's so important about these ruins?
I have some questions about this area...
Well, I've tried to give an explanation for the things seen in this area which you'll find here but the truth is that this area is very confusing. This was once an ancient city that was destroyed by what must have been a devastating force. Unfortunately, this means that there is little left that could help us find out the details of what happened here.
Mobo talks about the "Elder" in this Episode. Who are they, exactly?

Lance: Most other societies in the Panzer Dragoon world refer to this technologically advanced and long dead civilisation as the "Ancients". It seems that the Wormriders simply have an alternate name for them. The Fallen Ground is clearly a ruined Ancient Age city, so both names definitely mean the same thing.
During the battle with the Catharp, Mobo says "This isn't good. We must stop him before he destroys the place.". What's so important about these ruins?
I'm not sure if we can take anything Mobo says seriously, but perhaps this is an exception. I have no idea why this area would be important to the Wormriders, and why it shouldn't be destroyed. It's a shame we haven't heard much about what the Wormriders know regarding "the Elders".
