Characters: Abadd

An ancient drone, discovered by the Empire during an excavation of an ancient ruin. The Empire was searching for a drone to operate an ancient armament facility called the Cradle. When they found Abadd, their prayers had been answered. For some reason, Abadd had agreed to help the Empire create their own bio-engineered monsters, the dragonmares. Some believe that the Empire promised to help him get Orta if he helped them to activate the Cradle. Personally, I think Abadd may have helped the Empire willingly without asking anything in return. In fact, by helping the Empire, he could get his hands on a dragonmare, which would make things a lot easier for him.

The Empire underestimated his intelligence and his loyalty to his ancient masters. Blinded by their quest for absolute power, they gave Abadd the chance to escape once the first dragonmares were created. Abadd enhanced his own dragonmare, making it considerably stronger than the Empires' other five dragonmares.
Abadd's primary objective was to resuscitate his ancient masters, but for some reason, he searched for Orta first, and intervened when the Empire tried to capture her in Yelico Valley. This seems strange, since Orta should not have been important to Abadd's mission. Yet, he told Orta that he had foreseen her destiny, and that she had to save the world from itself.
Exactly how Abadd found out about Orta's existence is unknown, but the Empire also knew about her. There's a good chance that they had the same source. Had Abadd already visited Sestren before he encountered Orta? Unlikely, because then he should already have known his original objective could not be completed. Although it's possible Azel was captured by the Empire, her message in Sestren indicates she already knew she wouldn't be there anymore to help Orta. So I doubt she was captured by the Empire or the Seekers. How Abadd knew about Orta remains a mystery for now, just like the destiny he had originally foreseen for her. However, Abadd's intentions with Orta changed when he realized he couldn't complete his original mission.
When he found out he couldn't resuscitate his masters, he tried to come up with another way to fulfil his objective. He wanted to create a new race of Drones that could inherit the world from the Ancients, but since drones were unable to reproduce, he needed Orta's DNA to complete his new objective. It's strange that Abadd couldn't use the same method Azel used to create Orta, but I think that this may have been caused by the fact that Abadd wasn't as "free" in his thoughts as Azel was. The Ancients prevented the drones from attempting to create new drones themselves, since that would make them lose control over them. Abadd wasn't allowed to act this way, but maybe he could circumvent this if he already had the DNA of a half drone. As we see in the game, Orta doesn't agree with his insane plan, and decides to stop Abadd from trying to fulfil his objective.
